Leaving the security of an executive position at a well respected firm - and deciding to create boutique consulting practice - allowing me to share over 20 years of IT Channel, Sales, Marketing &amp; Operations expertise with a broader range of customers - and in the process creating business that allows for collaboration and partnerships with a number of brilliant friends and associates who I've met over the years. Each bringing the right set of knowledge and expertise - at the right time - to help customers at any stage of their business: start-up to turn-around.<br /><br />While I have great skills and experience - I realized that I was NOT up to speed on customer and business trends in the "Social Media" space. Beyond email &amp; web...I didn't have "time" for other social media sites and saw them as simply "social". Well...I sent myself back to school. I've just completed an intense 8 week course with the Social Media Academy http://www.socialmedia-academy.com/. Big investment in time and $$$ - but well worth it. <br /><br />My business plan and go-to-market thinking is changing dramatically based upon this. Unfortunately - the world of social media is still really the wild west - and there are plenty of snake oil salesmen/women out there - but, I now believe 100% engaging with customers in the social media space will be transformational for many businesses. I also believe that social media will lower the price of entry for new competitors to capture customer attention and $$$ away from legacy businesses that stick with legacy go-to-market models. <br /></span><span style="font-family: arial;"><br />So...join me on this journey - share your thoughts &amp; experiences.
